Desktop Appraisals

A "Desktop” appraisal is a hypothetical determination of value based solely upon the information provided by the client. This type of appraisal is conducted without a physical, hands on  inspection of the equipment and assumes the information provided by the client is an accurate representation of the subject assets. The provided information would typically include: year/age, manufacturer, make/model, serial number, condition, and photographs.

Desktop appraisals are a more affordable alternative to a Summary appraisal due to time, travel, and cost considerations. An example of this could be a company with assets spread across a large geographic area where travel expenses for a physical inspection of the assets would be cost prohibitive.

Summary Appraisals

A "Summary" appraisal is a determination of value based on a physical, hands on inspection of the assets by one of our Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraisers. All of our Summary Reports are intended to comply with the reporting requirements as defined under Standards Rule 8-2 (b) of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) for a Summary Appraisal Report. Summary reports are accepted on a daily basis by the courts, taxing authorities, lenders, business owners, accountants, and other users of appraisal services.

Valuation Process
The valuation process utilized in all our appraisal assignments is an orderly procedure for arriving at a realistic estimate of value and include the Cost Approach, Market Approach and the Income Approach (where applicable).  The Various approaches are interrelated, each involves the gathering and analysis of sales, activity, and value data in relation to the individual assets.  From the analysis, the appraiser derives separate indications of value for each of the assets being appraised. One or more approaches may be used, depending on their applicability to the particular appraisal assignment.
